Short history –
Jan Rietman, a Dutch pianist and radio and television announcer, released the single “Killer Boogie” in 1973 as a solo piano (boogie woogie style) recording. A few decades later (circa 1997) Boogie Woogie and Lindy Hop extraordinaire Marcus Koch released a video, “Footwork Fast and Fancy,” as part of an instructional series. In it he performs a short routine matching dance steps to this recording of Killer Boogie. THE KILLER SHAG VERSION of the KILLER BOOGIE was introduced just in 2018 by California SHAG team led by Johnny Blue Jeans. This uses all the same patterns but the Boogie Woogie step is swapped out with the 8 count COLLEGIATE SHAG pattern.
